ACR was established on 8 September 1994 in response to the unprecedented opportunity to serve the Russian Federation after the significant changes of 1991. ACR exists to provide a secure and authorized instrument that can help mobilize financial, cultural, humanitarian, and spiritual resources to meet the enormous and pressing needs of the Church and civil society in Russia. ACR therefore seeks to build bridges between East and West, so that these resources may more effectively be brought together to advance wherever possible the spiritual, social, and cultural good of the Russian people. In addition, ACR is convinced that the rebuilding of the Christian patrimony of Russia and the exercise there of the Church’s traditional mission of charity are vital to the stabilization and growth of the Russian nation.
